We love to read our daughters' blogs. They actually help us keep up with them, and the pictures are fun--we can go back to them whenever we want. And the best part is seeing our granddaughter, Anna-Jane, who lives far away in Colorado. Between the web-cam visits and blogs, we feel a bit closer than just by phone. So, since we enjoy their blogs, we've decided to try blogging, too.

Welcome Princess Sophie!

We've adopted a new family member--a puppy! Our grown dog, Chassis, was a gift from my sister's family several years ago. She is a full blooded Corgi, and her parents belong to my niece, Schelli's former in-laws, who have both Chassis's parents. Schelli also has one of Chassis's brothers, Charlie, as well as a small female dog of unknown origin but sweet disposition. They've had 2 litters of pups together, but she had 2 left. After some discussion, my sister, Delia, brought the 2 puppies to Waco last weekend to see if we wanted one. Josh's parents were staying with us that weekend as we were all celebrating Josh's sister, Jeni's pregnancy, with a baby shower. Well, we fell in love with one puupy, and Sharon and John fell in love with the other one, so we both added new members to our families!

Chassis wasn't sure what to think with both puppies at the house--she was a bit overwhelmed by all their energy. But she is overweight, and we thought maybe an energetic puppy would be helpful as well as a companion to her. So, would they get along?

Robin and Josh with Sophie and Chloe

After John and Sharon took 'Chloe' home with them, we tried to think of a name. We've stayed with 'C' names for ALL our pets, BUT Schelli had been calling her 'Sophie,' so after trying out a few names, we opted to avoid puppy identity crisis, break the C mold, and kept 'Sophie;' we think it fits her.

Such a sweet face! With Chloe no longer around to play with, Sophie pursued Chassis, and after only a few hours, Chassis began to play along; after 15 minutes she was panting! Woohoo, good exercise! On another morning, Larry found a puddle on the carpet, and he went to find Sophie. She went running from him, diving into Chassis' bed with Chassis, like 'help! save me!' So now they are having fun, and we're enjoying watching them!

Hey Auntie, wanna play?

OK, who's on top now?

Gettin' tired yet?

All these seem to show Sophie on top, but Chassis gets her turn!

Can you tell they are related? Chassis's hair is thicker and longer, and her ears stand up (and Sophie kept her tail). Don't know if Sophie's ears will ever stand up or not, but they are cute the way they are! Look at the markings on the back of their heads and at their 'collars.' Just a few similar genes, huh....

Hard to catch them ever posing.

More fun times to share...
