Larry went to Colorado to help Bree, Kyle, and Anna-Jane since Bree had sprained her ankle and they're in the middle of moving. I agreed and encouraged him to go, BUT I don't do 'alone' so well. So, in order to feel safer at night, I got myself barricaded (with chairs propped under doorknobs AND an ironing board propped under the bedroom door) and felt pretty secure (oh, yeah, steak knives under both pillows).
So the first night he is gone, I got into the bathtub, and was peacefully soaking and reading when the thing I’ve always hoped would never happen, happened--our orange cat, Charlie, fell in the bathtub! Now, before I go on, you should know that Charlie loves water, not swimming in it, but lying next to it and dipping his paw in it, so he loves to lie next to the bathtub and do his thing. He is a very trusting cat, and you can even hold him near water and he won't freak out. Here are some typical poses.
Hanging onto the thing my parents seem to like....it's mine now!

That's his cup in the sink--he likes to drink out of a cup, thank you!
He also has a bowl of water on the dryer, and he will go to any lengths to get to it sometimes.Back to the story.....AAAGGHHH!—claws dug into my thigh as Charlie tried to undo his forward motion toward the water. I just grabbed his foot to remove it from what surely had to be claws reaching deep into my thigh muscle, and somehow he used that as leverage, and he scooted backwards and was out onto the floor before we both knew what had happened! Then HE is on the floor licking his wet paws, cause that’s about all that got wet, while I’m wondering if I need a tourniquet! I really didn’t bleed too much, but was in some pain for awhile. I think we were both briefly traumatized!
