Even though it happened a year ago, it still seems like yesterday. I had been cleaning out the loft closet to clear it out to be able to put other stuff in it, to be able to clear out the loft, to be able to clear out the study, to move the dresser out of Bree’s room, to put a baby bed in there…you know, the domino effect. I went down to the kitchen (I was by myself—Larry was playing golf), and THERE IS A SNAKE IN THE KITCHEN!!!!!!!!! He’s about 18-24 inches long, green/black/bluish and slithering around near the dishwasher. I’m freaking out! What to do? If I go get someone, like our neighbor across the street, it might disappear, and then that would be worse—a snake in the house in an unknown location. I remembered a stick near the garbage can outside and I went to get it. I started poking him/nudging him thru the breakfast room at a fast pace. Well, Charlie, our orange cat, thought this looked interesting and decided to help. He got on my left side and at first wanted to paw at the snake, but the snake was rearing up his head and sorta snappng at the stick, so Charlie decided just to stay to the sidelines. I kept nudging him and it was a bit nerve-wracking when we got to the carport door b/c there’s a little step, but the snake managed to slither over it and went out—I slammed and locked the door, and then laughed at myself for locking it! Went and grabbed the camera and took a picture of him.
We think he's a King Snake, and he IS bigger than he looks!
