We love to read our daughters' blogs. They actually help us keep up with them, and the pictures are fun--we can go back to them whenever we want. And the best part is seeing our granddaughter, Anna-Jane, who lives far away in Colorado. Between the web-cam visits and blogs, we feel a bit closer than just by phone. So, since we enjoy their blogs, we've decided to try blogging, too.

Happy Anniversary, Bree and Kyle

It's hard to believe that it was 6 years ago that Bree and Kyle got married (May 16, 2004). Since she was the first of our daughters to marry, we cut our wedding planning teeth on her. Actually, we gave her a budget, and she and Kyle planned the vast majority of it! So many wonderful and funny memories from the wedding:
  • Kyle's proposal at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, and how Kyle called (he spent that summer in Colorado at Pikes Peak, and Bree went up to see him) to ask us--we taped it via speaker phone!
  • The wedding site (Miller Chapel) bringing back memories--Larry and I married there in 1977
  • And again (as in 1977), it was HOT in the Chapel--I don't think they turned the AC on early enough
  • Bree's unstoppable grin during the wedding ceremony while Kyle had sweet tears of joy
  • Running out of punch before the bride and groom even walked in the door--everyone was SO hot! Thankfully, the hotel had plenty of extra punch.
  • Bree and her dad's dance--she surprised him by finding a jazzy version of "I Love You a Bushel and a Peck," the song we always sung to her as a child at bedtime, or anytime!
  • The slightly tempermental getaway car (Porsche, I think) that they only drove around the block before returning to the Hilton to change clothes and say good-bye
  • Returning from the honeymoon SICK--they came back from Jamaica with a virus. They stayed with us a couple of days to recuperate. Kyle had a slight learning curve about the Northern girls when they get sick--need the thermometer, Sprite, chipped ice, and soothing words. As Bree shivered with fever, she asked Kyle to find a thermometer. Kyle's response: "if you feel bad, why do you need to know your temperature? Either you have a fever or you don't!"

When they moved to Colorado several years ago (I don't even like to count!), I didn't know if I could stand it--missing them so much. But we've adjusted as best we can, and we enjoy long visits several times a year. And now, Larry and I have 2 beautiful grandchildren from that strong marriage. We feel truly blessed. The best part is that God is the center of their world. Thank you, Lord, for this sweet family. And Happy Anniversary, Bree and Kyle!
